Blizzard's Overwatch players raise $12.7 million for Breast Cancer Research
Gamers don't mess around
During a recent event Blizzard released a special edition skin called 'Pink Mercy' for their character Mercy with 100% of the proceeds from sales going to the BCRF (Breast Cancer Research Foundation)
At the beginning of the event Blizzard stated that no matter the outcome of the sales, they would make a minimum donation of $250,000 along with the other money raised by partner Twitch streamers. In the end they raised $12.7 million with the streamers also raising $130,000 from donations.
Blizzard describes Mercy as “A scientist and guardian angel of the game who has dedicated her life to helping others." Who better to be the face of such an amazing initiative.
