Comic-Con 2022: All the movie and TV teasers and trailers

Taking place in person for the first time since 2019, the biggest annual comic nerd fest event, San Diego Comic-Con, concluded this past weekend. The convention was back to its usual format of stars, panels, presentations, cosplayers, teasers and trailers.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

Teen Wolf: The Movie

A terrifying new evil has emerged in Beacon Hills calling for the return of Alpha Werewolf Scott McCall to once again reunite the Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes, and other shapeshifters of the night. With new allies and trusted friends like Derek Hale, and the return of a long lost love, Scott and his pack just might stand a chance. One friend not returning to the Teen Wolf world is fan favourite Stiles Stilinski. When asked about why he wasn't returning for the Teen Wolf revival, actor Dylan O'Brien told Variety, "It was a difficult decision. Ultimately, I just decided it was left in a really good place for me and I still want to leave it there".

John Wick: Chapter 4

It’s been three years since we last saw John Wick in the care of the Bowery King in JW3 – Parabellum. The new teaser for Chapter 4 that was released at SDCC makes it clear that John has healed and is back to his fighting fit best. JW4 follows the world's most deadly assassin as he takes on the High Table.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods

“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word “SHAZAM!” is transformed into his adult Superhero alter ego, Shazam. Shazam (Zachary Levi) is feeling insecure compared to other superheroes like Aquaman and The Flash. But when a new group of villains led by Helen Mirren cause trouble, Shazam and his friends rise up to face them. Shazam even makes a reference to The Fast and the Furious movies, which Mirren is in!

Black Adam

Cinema Release | 21 October

Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods -- and imprisoned just as quickly -- Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world. Black Adam swats planes from mid-air in the teaser trailer. One minute of Black Adam footage shows The Rock giving his biggest smackdown yet against supervillains in big city destruction.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

The sequel to 2018's Black Panther is the second of three feature length Marvel Cinematic Universe movies slated for the release this year, and is also the last in Marvel's MCU Phase 4. In the film, the leaders of the kingdom of Wakanda fight to protect their nation in the wake of King T'Challa's death. The cover of “No Woman, No Cry” is the soundtrack of Wakanda in mourning. It stars Lupita Nyong'o, Letitia Wright, Martin Freeman, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett, amongst others.

Chucky (Season 2)

After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begins to expose the town's hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky's past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll's untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster. Good Guy dolls always have more fun. See what's in store for Charles Lee Ray and his many friends 'til the end as Chucky returns!

Resident Alien (Season 2 | Part 2)

There's more Resident Alien coming! Humanity is in danger from an alien race, which is definitely no bueno. Harry might have come to Earth to kill all humans, but now he might be our only hope of survival.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

Jennifer Walters has a complicated life as a single, 30-something attorney who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk. This extended trailer for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law shows Bruce Banner training Jennifer with boulder tossing and yoga. Jennifer fights Titania in the courtroom, and Wong also makes an appearance. She-Hulk even directly addresses the camera after commenting on Bruce. Plus, an old friend puts in a special appearance at the end.

Mythic Quest (Season 3)

Breakups are hard. Working together is harder. The season 3 teaser shows what happens when Ian and Poppy start their own company. The answer is: pretty much the same shenanigans as before. Only now, they make updated references to the Metaverse and NFTs.

The Sandman

Interview with the Vampire (Season 1)

Star Trek: Picard (Season 3)

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

An all new extended trailer. Young Galadriel foresees war, while the name of Sauron starts to spread, and the Balrog shows up by the end. The New Zealand landscape looks very familiar though showing new corners of Middle-earth to be explored on the series.

Vampire Academy (Season 1)

Lissa, a Royal vampire, and her best friend and protector, Rose, navigate romance, class politics, and ancient magic at their boarding school for vampires. When a mysterious bond develops between the two friends, they must work together to decipher it, all while facing threats inside the gates and out, including the bloodthirsty and undead Strigoi. Reginald the Vampire (Season 1)

In a world full of beautiful vampires, fat vampire Reginald Baskin does his best to navigate everyday struggles, with a few tricks up his sleeve.

National Treasure: Edge of History

The streaming series is based on the Nicolas Cage National Treasure movies. Lisette Olivera plays Jess Morales, a 20-year-old Dreamer who sets off on a historical treasure hunt worthy of Cage’s character, Benjamin Franklin Gates.

House of the Dragon (Season 1)

HBO Max | 21 August

A special extended version of the trailer for SDCC. Targaryens are closer to Gods than to men. And all the dragons roared as one. The story of the Targaryen civil war that took place about 300 years before events portrayed in "Game of Thrones."

The Wheel of Time (Season 2)

No official trailer for Season 2 of the series based on Robert Jordan's novels. Prime Video did revealed a minute of behind-the-scenes footage of all the action to come. A camera-car chases riders on horseback and battles erupt in the field and within castle walls. The camera stands behind heroes as they enter the fray.

The End is Nye

Peacock | 25 August

Science guy Bill Nye explores six potentially world-ending disasters in this docuseries. Can he save the world? Even if he can’t, it’ll be fun to watch him try. Co-creator Seth MacFarlane also appears as a science denier. MacFarlane and Brannon Braga use comedy to aid host Nye’s educational quest.


Animated TV

American Dad (Season 17)

TBS Network | 5 September

Stan Smith leads the all-American family in this animated sitcom filled with wild and crazy extremes. Everyday life is taken to the limit as Stan applies the same drastic measures used in his job at the CIA to his home-life. Driven by machismo and the American dream, he is often blind to how horribly he fails at his attempts. This father may not know best but he never stops trying!

Star Trek: Lower Decks (Season 3)

Paramount+ | 25 August

The animated Star Trek series shows cadets recruiting for Starfleet at a future job fair with a reference to the subtitle for Star Trek VI. Also look for homages to Deep Space Nine and Sisko. The Cerritos is impounded while the captain is on trial, so the crew steal a ship to make things right. Klingons and scary aliens abound, along with adorable puppies and seals too.

Little Demon (Season 1)

FX Networks | 25 August

In FX’s Little Demon, an animated comedy featuring the voices of Danny DeVito and Aubrey Plaza, it has been 13 years since being impregnated by Satan, and a reluctant mother, Laura, and her Antichrist daughter, Chrissy, attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware. However, the two are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter's soul.

I Am Groot

Disney+ | 10 August

If you liked Groot’s limited vocabulary in two Guardians of the Galaxy films, get ready for five new animated shorts of nothing but “I am Groot.” Marvel released the trailer for the computer-animated series, which bears photorealistic animation of Baby Groot just like the movies. Watch Groot fart out a leaf for some adorable alien creatures and get down to dance music.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (Season 3)

Netflix | 18 August

A huge fight awaits in Eternia in the upcoming season of the Netflix animated series. Following the events of Season 2, He-Man and the rest of the heroes are on the run from Skeletor’s ghost. Commanding an army of undead Snake Men, Skeletor schemes to extinguish the bright light of Eternia and plunge the universe into an everlasting darkness.

Beavis and Butthead

Paramount+ | 4 August

This near 9-minute clip of the upcoming Beavis and Butt-Head streaming series is all about fire. It also shows Beavis and Butt-Head watching a TikTok video, which begs the question: Are they streaming TikTok to their TV? Whatever, it’s hilarious.
