Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster
Square Enix released the older Final Fantasy games on Steam. The problem was that they were not the best ports, having come from remastered mobile ports. People wanted more. So Square Enix began releasing pixel remasters of the older Final Fantasy games. They've finally reached the best one.
Originally on the SNES, Final Fantasy VI was first released as Final Fantasy 3 in North America. This slightly confusing numbering sequence was due to the fact that FFII, FFIII and FFV were not released in North America. That has been fixed after localisations and re-releases changed the name back to VI.
Final Fantasy VI is a traditional Japanese RPG that lets you control four characters. You take on a diabolical empire while exploring many dungeons, fighting many battles along the way.
This latest re-release features updated 2D graphics, a rearranged soundtrack overseen by the original composer Nobuo Uematsu, a modernised UI and auto-battle options. (Let's face it, some of those battles can get tedious.)
As of now the Steam customers reviews says the sentiment towards the game is Very Positive. With some comments suggest breaking down in a nostalgic teary mess. Some of the complaints mention bugs and the font.
Being a 2D pixel-based game, the minimum requirements are not taxing. Not needing any specific graphics card, the integrated graphics on CPUs being enough and requiring just 1 GB of your precious hard drive space.
The game can be found on Steam, the App Store, Google Play and Amazon App Store.
