Most Epic Win Game of the Year Awards 2020

Welcome to the 4th annual Most Epic Win Game of the Year Awards — the most epic gaming awards on the planet!

For the past month all our Most Epic Win members got to cast their vote for which games deserved to be crowned the best in their categories. More than 350 different votes were counted across all categories.

Here are the official winners of this year's MEW GOTYs:

Best Game Released on Xbox One for 2020

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Ori dominated the competition for Xbox One glory with it's amazing sound track, tight gameplay, and beautiful art style and graphics. Yakuza: Like a Dragon came in second, with F1 2020 in third place

Best Game Released on PlayStation 4

Ghost of Tsushima

The epic samurai tale beat out some stiff competition to be crowned the best game for the PS4 this year. It beat out Nioh 2 in second place, and Final Fantasy VII Remake in third place.

Best Game Released on Nintendo Switch

Animal Crossing: New Horizon

The lovely island building game stole our hearts, as well as first place in this category. Coming in second was Hades, with Ori and the Will of the Wisps in third place.

Best Game Released on PC

Microsoft Flight Simulator

MSFS flew past the competition and is the winner of the best game on PC category. It had some really tight competition, with Half-Life: Alyx in a close second, and DOOM Eternal in third place.

Best Multiplayer Game Released

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

It went to the last round, but Fall Guys got the crown it deserves for the best multiplayer game of this year. Closely following behind was Call of Duty: Warzone, with Animal Crossing: New Horizon in third place.

Best Story in a Game for 2020

The Last Of Us Part II

The Last Of Us Part II had one of the most innovative and exceptional narrative stories of the year, and deservingly wins this category. Ori and the Will of the Wisps comes in second place, followed by Half-Life: Alyx in third.

Best Indie Game for 2020

Hades

Hades came back stronger than before to clinch the title of best indie game. SA developed Beautiful Desolation wins the second prize, with Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout in third.

The Rev Your Engine Award 2020

Microsoft Flight Simulator

Another win for MSFS as it soars high above all other vehicle related games for 2020. Automobilista 2 takes the second step on the podium followed closely by F1 2020.

Best Games that made us forget about COVID 19

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

The colourful games help us all forget the terrible pandemic raging through the world. Microsoft Flight Simulator flies into second place with Animal Crossing: New Horizon lounging it's way into third place.

The Best Games We're Still Playing Award 2020

Assetto Corsa

Our racing-mad community can't get enough of Assetto Corsa. Despite its age, it's still the best game we're still playing. Warframe slices its way into second place, with another racing title, Assetto Corsa Competizione following in third.

The Old Games Made Better Award 2020

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2

The remake of one of the highest rated games of all time did not disappoint and is the best game remake to be released this year. Black Mesa scared up a second place with Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition advancing to third place

The Best Gaming Technology Released in 2020

AMD Ryzen 5000 series CPU

Of all the amazing gaming related technology to be released this year, nothing came close to making our gamers hearts (and PC internals) warmer than the AMD Ryzen 5000 series. The extremely scarce Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 got scalped into second place, and the brand new PlayStation 5 launched into third spot

The Most Anticipated Game Award 2020

Cyberpunk 2077

There are only a few days left until the most anticipated game for the past two years will be releasing. Cyberpunk dominated the competition, with the biggest winning margin of any category. Diablo IV did get some votes to take second place, with Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 in third place.

The Most Epic Game Of The Year Award 2020

Microsoft Flight Simulator

The most coveted prize of them all goes to Microsoft Flight Simulator. With its unbelievable scale, gorgeous graphics and Game Pass release, MSFS showed us all just what next-gen gaming means. Nioh 2 takes the second place with Ori and the Will of the Wisps a hair behind it.
