The Quarry - Will You Survive the Night?

It’s late summer in the remote forests of upstate New York, and the teen counsellors of Hackett’s Quarry have the camp to themselves for one final night. That means no kids, no adults, and no rules. In this cinematic tale, you control the fates of all nine camp counsellors as their party plans unravel into an unpredictable night of horror. With life-or-death decisions around every turn, the choices you make will determine how the story unfolds.

The Quarry is an upcoming interactive drama horror video game developed by Supermassive Games (Little Nightmares, the Dark Pictures Anthology) and published by 2K Games. It is the spiritual successor to Supermassive's 2015 PlayStation 4 exclusive, Until Dawn.

In the game you play as all nine of the Hackett's Quarry camp counsellors over the course of the game. As their end-of-summer plans unravel into a night of horror, you'll be faced with a multitude of decisions. Every yell, lie, and flirtation you choose affects the counsellors' relationships and each action has a ripple effect on the story.

Gameplay actions in The Quarry come in many forms. You'll have to react to unexpected Quick Time Events and split-second decision prompts, shape your counsellor's personality with dialogue choices, and even leverage a good ol' fashioned shotgun when the need arises.

Regardless of how you choose to use these various mechanics, the story progresses whether you succeed, screw up, or are simply indecisive. All nine playable characters may die by the end of the game, and each character potentially has 10-12 different ways to die.

The Quarry can be played in couch co-op mode with up to seven friends. Each player is assigned to play as one or more counselors, with one controller passed around the group each time a different counselor becomes the current playable character.

There's also an online multiplayer mode, but in The Quarry it functions differently to the local co-op play. In this invite-only mode, a host can invite up to seven friends with access to the game to watch along. While the host plays, their audience votes on each key decision, with the majority vote determining the outcome.

You can also turn The Quarry into a bingeable teen horror experience with Movie Mode. In this mode, you can determine a number of variables to make the story play out as you see fit. Decide if everyone lives or dies, or tweak specific character behaviour patterns to see how each counsellor will react in casual and critical situations alike.

The game features a large ensemble cast of actors including David Arquette, Siobhan Williams, Lin Shaye, Lance Henriksen, Grace Zabriskie, Ted Raimi, Ariel Winter, Ethan Suplee, Miles Robbins, Halston Sage, Zach Tinker, Brenda Song, Skyler Gisondo, Evan Evagora, and Justice Smith.

The Quarry is set to be released for Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on 10 June.
