The Witcher: The Netflix Series — Season 2 cast and release window
Production started on the second season of The Witcher series in February with a planned 2021 release date, Netflix has said. The exact date is yet to be determined.
Netflix has also confirmed the returning cast for the next season of The Witcher, and announced several new cast members.
Already known was that Henry Cavill would be back as Geralt of Rivia, the eponymous witcher. Anya Chalotra returns as the sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Cirilla, and Joey Batey as Jaskier.
Other returning cast include MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Tom Canton as Filavandrel, Lilly Cooper as Murta, Jeremy Crawford as Yarpin Zigrin, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz, Terence Maynard as Artorius, Lars Mikkelson as Stregobor, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla Vigo, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as Dara, Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold, and Therica Wilson Read as Sabrina.
New cast for season two include Yasen Atour (from Young Wallander) as Coen, Agnes Bjorn (Monster) as Vereena, Paul Bullion (Peaky Blinders) as Lambert, Thue Ersted Rasmussen (Fast and Furious 9) as Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross (The Danish Girl) as Lydia, Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones) as Nivellen, and recent graduate Mecia Simson, as Francesca.
The series will be directed by Stephen Surjik (Umbrella Academy) who will direct 201 and 202, Sarah O’Gorman (Cursed) for episodes 203 and 204, Ed Bazalgette (The Last Kingdom) for episodes 205 and 208, and Geeta V. Patel (Meet The Patels) for episodes 206 and 207.
"The reaction to season one of The Witcher set a high bar for adding new talent for the second season," said The Witcher showrunner and executive producer, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.
"Sophie Holland and her casting team have once again found the very best people to embody these characters, and in the hands of these accomplished directors, we'e excited to see these new stories come to life."
