Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales releasing next month

CD Projekt RED have announced that the next entry in the epic The Witcher series will release next month. Originally planned as the single-player campaign for the popular Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, Thronebreaker will now release as a standalone RPG.

Thronebreaker is a single player role-playing game set in the world of The Witcher that combines narrative-driven exploration with unique puzzles and card battle mechanics. The game spins a truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms — Lyria and Rivia. Facing an imminent Nilfgaardian invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath, and set out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge.

The game will allow players to explore "never-before seen parts of the Witcher world" and the combat will take the form of the familiar Gwent card game.

Thronebreaker will release on GOG.com on October 23 and on Xbox One and PS4 in December. Sadly, no mention of a Switch version was made at this time. No price point has been announced yet, either.
